[back to W1TR Antennas and QTH]
The 40 meter horizontal loop is constructed from #10 stranded insulated wire available in most hardware stores.
The feedpoint uses PVC a pipe T-section. The coax loops through the T-section to provide strain relief. Wire is tied using a square knot to the T-section and also to rope which is then tied to trees (radials) or which goes over the tops of trees. The “springiness” of the small branches appears to help the wire antennas survive 60 knot winds with little or no damage.
The 40 meter horizontal loop also works well on 20, 15, and 10 meters on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th harmonic of the fundamental frequency.
